The Venues
18th Street Brewery is one of the most decorated craft breweries in Indiana — multiple national and international awards, a rotating tap list of 20+ beers brewed on-site, and a laid-back taproom that consistently draws a great crowd. Their Miller Ave location in Gary is the home base for our flagship weekly karaoke night.
Wednesday nights at 18th Street are a rhythm you can set your week to. The crowd is a mix of craft beer regulars, karaoke veterans, and first-timers who got dragged in and never want to leave. The vibe is inclusive, energetic, and genuinely fun — not performative or competitive. People are there to sing and have a good time, and our host sets exactly that tone from the first song.
The brewery's award-winning beers are a major part of the appeal. You're not just singing — you're at one of Indiana's best taprooms. Coming in on a Wednesday and leaving by 7:30 is physically impossible once you realize how good the beer is.

El Capitán is Hobart's hidden gem — a seafood and Mexican fusion restaurant that draws from across the Region for its food alone. Add karaoke every Friday and you have one of the best nights out in NW Indiana, full stop.
The 4-hour block sets El Capitán apart. Most public karaoke nights wrap at 11pm. El Capitán's goes till midnight, which means the night has real room to breathe. The early hours are dinner-and-drinks energy; by 10pm, the room has shifted into something that feels more like a concert. The late-night crowd at El Capitán is a real thing.
The bilingual experience here is also worth noting. El Capitán draws a diverse crowd, and our Spanish-language catalog — reggaeton, cumbia, banda, boleros, and modern Latin pop — gets heavy rotation. Nights here often swing between English and Spanish throughout the queue, which creates an energy you won't find at many karaoke nights in the region.

Flights Taproom is a Hammond craft beer bar built around the concept of beer exploration — their signature offering is samplers and flights of local and regional craft beers. The bar has a warm, social atmosphere that makes it a natural fit for karaoke, and the regulars here have become some of the most enthusiastic karaoke participants in the region.
The 1st and 3rd Tuesday schedule gives Flights a different character than the weekend shows. Tuesday night karaoke attracts people who are genuinely there for the experience — not just looking for something to do on a Friday. The queue tends to be tighter, the singing tends to be better, and the crowd interaction tends to be more engaged. If you want to get good at karaoke (or feel good about how good you already are), Tuesday at Flights is your night.
Hammond's location — right on the border with Chicago, easy access from the south suburbs — means Flights draws from a wide geographic area. It's one of the first NW Indiana stops for people coming in from the city, and it shows in the crowd diversity.

The quality varies significantly — sound systems, song libraries, and hosting all over the map. The most consistent professional karaoke experience in the region remains with PopUp Karaoke.
