Why Karaoke Works for School & Community Events
When you're planning a school carnival, fundraiser, or community event, you need entertainment that pulls people in, keeps them engaged, and works for every age group in the crowd — from kindergartners to grandparents. Karaoke checks every box. It's participatory, it's joyful, and it creates moments that people genuinely remember. A child getting up in front of their whole school to sing a song they love? That's confidence-building in action. A parent getting on the mic for the first time in decades? That's community. PopUp Karaoke brings all the equipment, an experienced host, and a song library that's fully filterable for age-appropriate content — so you can focus on running your event, not managing entertainment logistics.
We've powered PTA fundraisers, spring carnivals, church fall festivals, and nonprofit galas throughout Lake County and beyond. Every event comes with full professional setup, $1M liability insurance, and a host who knows how to work a multigenerational crowd.
Who We Serve
From elementary schools to regional nonprofits — karaoke fits any community event.
School Carnivals
Make your spring or fall carnival the event every family looks forward to. Karaoke is a crowd magnet that works alongside bounce houses, games, and food booths.
PTA & Booster Events
Add real entertainment value to your next PTA fundraiser or booster night. Karaoke keeps families on-site longer, which means more spending and more raised for your cause.
Church Fellowships
Family-friendly, clean, and joyful — karaoke is a natural fit for church social nights, fall festivals, youth group events, and congregation celebrations.
Nonprofit Fundraisers
Karaoke nights, contests, and open-mic events are proven fundraising draws. Our host keeps the energy — and the donations — flowing all night.
Hobart Elementary PTA — Spring Carnival 2024
Hobart, IN · Saturday Afternoon/Evening · Outdoor Carnival
The Hobart Elementary PTA needed a centerpiece activity for their spring carnival that would draw families in and keep them there. They booked a 4-hour karaoke block alongside their traditional carnival games and food vendors.
What happened: Over 200 attendees rotated through the karaoke stage throughout the event. Kids as young as 5 got on the mic, parents jumped in for duets, and the PTA sold song "dedications" as a mini-fundraiser within the event. The line for karaoke never dropped below a dozen kids.
"We didn't expect karaoke to be the centerpiece — it turned into the most talked-about part of the carnival. Kids and parents were singing together all afternoon. We're already planning to bring it back next year." — Karen M., PTA President, Hobart Elementary

How to Make It Family-Friendly
- ✓ Enable explicit content filtering. Let us know your audience age range when you book — we'll have the library pre-filtered before we arrive so nothing inappropriate can be searched or queued.
- ✓ Run themed song rounds. "Disney round," "90s hits," or "country classics" give kids and parents a category to rally around and make group singing more likely.
- ✓ Set up a dedicated kids' queue. Our host can run a separate sign-up sheet for younger kids so they get on the mic without fighting the adult queue — builds confidence and keeps it fair.
- ✓ Use karaoke as a paid activity. Many PTA events charge $2–5 per song or sell "jump the queue" passes as a fundraiser. This adds a revenue stream without requiring extra setup on your end.
- ✓ Encourage group and family performances. Our host actively invites parent-child duets and family performances — these become the most memorable moments of the event and get the best crowd reaction.
School Karaoke FAQ
Is the song library appropriate for kids? +
Yes. We can filter out explicit content and curate a completely family-friendly song list. Our 50,000+ song library includes Disney hits, pop, country, classic rock, and more. Just let us know your audience age range when you book — we'll have the filter set before we arrive.
Do you carry liability insurance? +
Yes. PopUp Karaoke carries $1M general liability insurance. We can provide a certificate of insurance (COI) to your school district, church, or nonprofit upon request — just mention it when you book and we'll have it ready well before your event.
How many kids can participate? +
Our standard setup handles up to 300 attendees comfortably. An open-mic rotation keeps everyone involved — kids sign up, our host calls names, and the queue moves fast enough that nobody waits too long. For events over 300, reach out and we'll discuss extended options.
Can we use karaoke as a fundraising activity? +
Absolutely. Many of our school and nonprofit clients charge admission to the karaoke activity, sell "jump the queue" passes, or hold sing-off contests with entry fees. Karaoke naturally draws a crowd and keeps people on-site longer — which means more revenue across all your fundraising activities.
How far in advance should we book for a school event? +
At least 4 weeks in advance — and earlier if your event falls during spring carnival season (March through May), which is our busiest period. Summer church festivals and fall fundraisers also book quickly. Reach out as soon as your date is confirmed.
Do you need special permits for school events? +
Typically no — karaoke entertainment doesn't require a special permit. However, we're happy to provide our insurance certificate and any vendor documentation your school district, church, or organization requires. Just let us know what paperwork is needed when you reach out.
